Like in many places, in a modernising society, Thai locals have been selling off lovely wooden houses as timber to afford a more fashionable 'modern' life style. And so our traditional Thai houses are gradually disappearing.
In effort to preserve the traditional architecture, we have bought a few of the teak houses, restored them as they were, and try to use them so they can be alive again.
At The Ricebarn, we have five of these wooden houses making five traditional rooms, and one modern room. Each room is uniquely decorated with hand-made furnitures, traditional fabric, and some antiques, to reflect the rich cultural heritage of our surroundings.
